Created by Nikkhil Advani, ‘The Empire’ is a Hindi language period drama based on Alex Rutherford’s (pen name of writers/couple Diana Preston and her husband Michael Preston) novel series “Empire of the Moghul.” Tracing the emergence of the Mughal Empire in India, the series follows the founder of the empire, Babur, who was crowned the king of Farghana, the capital of eastern Uzbekistan’s Fergana Province, at the age of 14 after his father Umar Sheikh’s death. Viktor doesn’t trust Raghu to run the company and hands it over to journalist Mahika Nandy (Mahima Makwana), who is revealed to be Viktor’s granddaughter.
